Our classes are split into three flexible age-groups:
The Baby Band... ...is a lovely introduction to music for babies and toddlers from 4 months to 2 years. In this half-hour class we develop your baby's listening and language skills, help your baby to meet and interact with other babies, and introduce you and your baby to lots of beneficial activities that you can do together. And of course you also have the opportunity to meet other local mums, dad, grans etc. We have lots of fun with percussion instruments, songs, simple musical games and some gentle movement.
The Toddler Troupe... ...develops these activities further with a wider variety of instruments, songs and games and much more movement. Toddlers learn to listen, to sing, to move their bodies, to follow instructions and to express themselves. We develop co-ordination, communication, co-operation, motor control, socialisation, and the ability to tune-in to vital rhyme and musical speech patterns that are essential to successfully learning to read and write. This fun-filled class is for older toddlers and children aged 18 months to 3 years and lasts 40 minutes.
The Music Express... ...is a 45-minute class for 2½ to 5-year-olds and takes the children to a new level of independence in music-making, as we introduce more advanced pitch and rhythm activities, simple composition and musical notation - an excellent foundation for learning to play a musical instrument. Our wonderful musical games & adventures create a fun, captivating class, with children continuing to learn to listen, to sing, to move their bodies, to follow - and now give - instructions, and to express themselves. As with the Toddler Troupe, we use age-appropriate activities to develop
the following:
- co-ordination
- language & communication
- listening
- co-operation
- social skills
...and that all-important precursor to reading and writing:
- the ability to tune-in to, recognise and use rhyme and musical
speech patterns.
Age-groupsOur age-groupings are very flexible and deliberately overlap so your child can move from one class to the next as and when they are ready. Older/younger siblings are welcome to attend free of charge, and watch and/or join in at their own ability level. If you are unsure about which class is right for you contact us or speak to your local teacher and we'll be happy to help and advise. We welcome children of all needs and abilities and will do our best to cater for your special needs and requirements. Please click here to find a class near you.
